World production of organic cotton fell by 35 percent – from 241,697 metric tonnes in 2010/11 to 151,079 this year – according to the 6th ‘Farm & Fiber Report’ by Textile Exchange. Painting smocks, work suits and overalls are thrown away after about 30 washes. The garments usually end up being burned or shredded, or used for things such as cleaning rags. Daniel Kroh is showing us that there is an alternative. Under the brand name ReClothings, the Berlin-based tailor and fashion designer creates clothing and furnishings out of workwear. Bespoke bed linens: Collection Sabine Stiegler, Munich
The design is classic, elegant and pared down. When it comes to fabric quality, only the best will do; for her hand-made bed linen, which can also be ordered tailor-made, Sabine Stiegler uses only the very finest Egyptian cotton which she has woven into 600-thread count jacquard in Northern Italy. The bed linens are made in a small manufacturing firm in Germany. There, the Sabine Stiegler Collection is also produced in small batches and according to customer specifications. >>>

The Heimtextil Trendtable began its work for the 2013/14 season with a number of new members. Six renowned design studios met in Frankfurt am Main on 8 and 9 March 2012 to discuss coming design developments. This represents the creative foundation for showing future-oriented material, colour and design trends at the next Heimtextil in January 2013.
